Swim Teams in 8th Place after Day 2

Webster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams both sit in 8th place after two days at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships.

The men's team continued their time at the competition with one team submitted in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Hunter Deible, Aiden Wright, Connor Weiss, and Owen Fitzsimmons finished with a time of 1:43.68, which put them in an 8th place finish, good for 30 team points. Deible started the relay and finished his 50 in a time of 25.30. Wright swam the second leg in 24.88 seconds and was followed by Weiss, who finished his leg in 25.78. Fitzsimmons swam the anchor leg in 24.48 seconds.

The Women's team saw three individuals qualify for the final rounds and submitted two teams into the 200-freestyle relay. 

Adriana Gallas competed in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 19th with a time of 6:51.99. She collected 2 points. The Panthers also had two swimmers compete in the 50-yard freestyle. Bailey Fedak finished in a tie for 13th place with a time of 26.92 seconds, while Katie Anderton took twentieth place with a time of 30.61 seconds. Fedak scored 7.5 points with her finish and Anderton added 1 point.

In the relay, the Panthers' two submissions finished in 7th and 15th place. The first team of Eve Brink, Chloe Bellis, Katie Anderton, and Bailey Fedak took 7th with a time of 1:57.33, cutting 7 seconds off of their seed time. Brink opened the race with a 30.72-second first leg and was followed by Chloe Bellis who posted a sub 30 second time of 29.89. Anderton finished the third leg in 30 seconds flat and Fedak finished the race with a 26.72-second anchor leg.

The Panthers' second team finished in 15th. Anna Killingbeck started the race with an opening leg finished in 32.10 seconds. Stephanie Carson followed with a 33.25-second leg and Macy Peterson posted the fastest split of the relay with a time of 30.95 seconds in the third leg. Adriana Gallas finished the race with a 32.57-second anchor leg.

Through 2 days, both teams are currently in 8th place. The women have amassed 94.5 points and are currently 8.5 points out of 7th. The men have totaled 60 points, competing in two relays, and are 5.5 points out of 7th.

Day three of the championship meet will consist of 13 events including the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, one-meter diving, and will close with the 400-yard medley relay. The preliminary round will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the finals commencing at 5:00 p.m.
