Panthers Drop One, Tie Another at Opening Day Tri-meet

Erie, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team opened its season with a tri-meet at Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers lost their match with the hosts 152-34 and tied Medaille 66.0-66.0.

Freshman Bailey Fedak had an impressive debut for the Panthers. She had two second-place finishes in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. She swam the 50 in 29.28, under two seconds behind the event winner. In the 100, she posted a time of 1:09.97.

Fellow freshman Anna Killingbeck was able to pick up a win for the Panthers in the 200-yard individual medley. She was the only swimmer able to legally complete the race, posting a time of 3:24.61. Adriana Gallas had two third-place finishes in the 500 and 200-yard freestyle events and had a 4th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, October 30th, when they host Medaille in a dual meet.
