Broad Swims In One AMCC Championship, One Consolation Final Friday

ERIE, Pa, -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swim teams wrapped up the third day of the four-session AMCC Championships Friday at Penn State-Behrend's Junker Center.

At the conclusion of day three, the Pitt-Bradford men's team holds third place with 162 points. The women's team is fifth of six teams with 17 points.

"I was very pleased with the amount of championship final swims we had tonight," Head Coach Doug Alban said. "The kids raced really well. Kayla -- one champ and one consolation final -- and Chris -- two champ finals -- had particularly impressive days as they doubled up on their individual events today."

On the men's side, Penn State-Behrend leads the conference with 593 points while Alfred State is second with 288 points. Penn State-Altoona (149) and SUNY Delhi (83) trail the Panthers.

Similarly to the men, the Penn State-Behrend (465) and Alfred State (413) women hold the top-two spots. Franciscan (233) and Penn State-Altoona (122) are ahead of the Panthers while SUNY Delhi (9) trails Pitt-Bradford.

Noah Frederick highlighted the day's events for Pitt-Bradford, finishing second in the men's 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:01.23. Frederick edged out the third-place finisher by 0.21 seconds.

Chris Troll finished fifth in the event at 1:04.96.

Kayla Broad qualified for the women's 100-butterfly 'B' finals, finishing atop the 'B' final with a time of 1:07.24 for seventh place.

In the men's 100-butterfly, Troll grabbed sixth place with a time of 56.40 while Devyn Condon finished in seventh place atop the 'B' final at 55.61.

Broad later finished fifth in the women's 100-backstroke with a time of 1:06.16, trailing the fourth-place finisher by just 0.30 seconds.

In the men's 100-backstroke, Caleb Hansen grabbed fourth place with a time of 55.78, just .03 seconds away from the third-place finisher.

In the first action of the night, the Pitt-Bradford men's 200-medley relay team of Caleb Hansen, Chris Troll, Devyn Condon and Devin Kerr finished fourth with a time of 2:03.07.

The final day of action, Saturday will start with prelims for the 200-backstroke, 100-freestyle, 200-breaststroke, 200-butterfly and the slowest heats of the 1,650-freestyle. Then that evening, after the finals of the morning's events, the event will conclude with the 400-freestyle relay. Same as all week, the prelims will start at 10 a.m. with finals beginning at 6 p.m.
