W&J Tops Panthers At Home Saturday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swim teams hosted Washington & Jefferson for its second home dual meet at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center of the 2018-19 season Saturday.

The Presidents came out on top over the Panthers in both sides, taking the men's by a score of 110-72 and the women's with a 75-49 decision.

"Today was our first time swimming 200's of the strokes this year, and for some of them ever," Head Coach Doug Alban said. "They responded fairly well after 10 very tough days of practices. We have our eyes set on the Wooster Invite in two weeks after a little bit of rest."

Devyn Condon grabbed a pair of victories for the Panthers, winning the men's 200-freestyle with a time of 2:01.29 and the men's 200-butterfly in 2:13.30.

Kayla Broad took first in three events, including the women's 100-backstroke (1:07.84), 100-freestyle (59.26) and 500-freestyle (6:35.51).

In the men's 100-freestyle, Noah Frederick grabbed first with a time of 2:23.51, three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Alexia Garcia took first in a pair of events, the women's 100-breaststroke (1:16.94) and 200-breaststroke (2:58.55).

Caleb Hansen finished second in the mile at 19:10.05 and the 200-backstroke (2:15.81).

Chris Troll also came in second in a pair of events, including the 200-butterfly (2:16.28) and 100-butterfly (58.63). 

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will compete in the three-day Wooster Invitational from Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
