ALTOONA, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams opened up their 2018-19 seasons at Penn State-Altoona Saturday.

The Panthers men's team picked up a 99-73 win in the dual meet while the women's team lost 73-33.

"This was a nice team effort today for the guys to pick up the win," Head Coach Doug Alban said. "Both the men and the women swam above expectations today. They are buying into the training methods and it showed today with many of the technical aspects of their races. We still have a lot of work to do between the flags, but it's still very early in our season."

Caleb Hansen led the way for the Panthers men's team with three individual victories.

Pitt-Bradford's men's team got the day started with a victory in the 200-medley relay as the squad of Nathan Kim, Noah Frederick, Chris Troll and Devyn Condon finished with a time of 1:46.54.

Condon then earned the victory in the 1,000-freestyle with a time of 11:52.26, nearly a full minute ahead of his competition.

Kayla Broad picked up the first win of the season for the women's team in the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:15.62.

Caleb Hansen completed the sweep of the event for Pitt-Bradford as he timed in at 1:53.82 for his first career victory.

Frederick timed in at 2:15.09 in the 200-IM to pick up a victory by nearly four seconds. 

Kim picked up his first career individual win in the 100-butterfly with a time of 54.89.

Hansen's second win of the day came in the 100-freestyle with a time of 52.29, over six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

The second win of the day for Kim came in the 100-backstroke with a time of 58.32 -- the only competitor in the event to finish in under a minute.

The third win of the day for Hansen came in the 500-freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:28.34 and nearly 13 seconds ahead of his competition.

Alexia Garcia earned her first career victory in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:20.84, four seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Frederick rounded out the victories for the Panthers with a win in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:04.89.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next on Friday, Nov. 2, hosting Alfred for its first home action.
