ERIE, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams wrapped up the first day of competition of the four-day 2018 AMCC Championships.

Both teams sit in fourth place, as the men's team earned 26 points while the Pitt-Bradford women's team grabbed 22 points.

For the men's team, the night was highlighted by the 800-freestyle relay team of Benjamin Koss, Nicholas Boyd, Carey Behm and Corey Koss that smashed the old school record of 7:16.62 with a time of 7:08.06. The team finished second in the event.

"This was a great way to start off AMCC's," Head Coach Doug Alban said. "I knew the guys were capable of going under 7:10 and they performed exceptionally. I was very excited to see the girls attack the relay tonight and earn fourth place. I am looking forward to the next three days of racing."

In addition to the school record for the 800-freestyle relay team, Benjamin Koss led off the event with a time of 1:43.04 to break the 200-freestyle school record.

The Pitt-Bradford women's 800-freestyle team of Kayla Broad, Jillian Wright, Beyleigh Duda and Danica Andrews finished fourth with a time of 9:28.77.

Thursday's swimming events will be the 500-freestyle, 200-IM, 50-freestyle, 200-freestyle relay and the 400-medley relay. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. with finals starting at 6 p.m.
