Men's Swimming Defeats Wells, Women Fall

The Pitt-Bradford swimming teams traveled to Wells Saturday for a non-conference matchup. The men won their second straight, defeating the Express 58-34, while the women lost 51-37.

The Panther men won eight of 11 total events, led by the trio of Nicholas Boyd, Lucas Cerchiaro and Carey Behm. All three swimmers were double-winners in the pool for Pitt-Bradford.

Boyd won the 100-yard butterfly and the 1,000-yard free, Cerchiaro took first in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley, and Behm finished tops in the 100-yard and 200-yard free swims.

Corey Koss captured first in the 50-yard free race, and the 200-yard medley relay team of Behm, Noah Frederick, Devyn Condon and Mitchell Smith won in 1:51.16.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Prager and Jillian Wright each won a pair of events for the Panthers.

Prager took first in the 200-yard and 500-yard free races, and Wright was tops in the 100-yard breast and 200-yard individual medley. Rebecca Avery was the other winner, finishing first in the 1,000-yard free swim.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Prager, Wenjing Miao, Avery and Abigail Bradshaw finished second in a time of 2:14.19.

Pitt-Bradford swimming returns home next Saturday to host Alfred State in its final home meet of the year. The first race is set to start at 1 p.m.
