Swim Teams Return to the Pool

The Pitt-Bradford swimming teams returned to the pool Saturday after nearly five weeks off for winter break. The men defeated Bethany (W.Va.) 168-75 while the women competed in a quad-meet with Bethany, Franciscan and Lockhaven.

The Panther women earned their first win of the season, defeating Bethany 112-69 but dropped decisions to Franciscan (184-90) and Lockhaven (163-75).

Elizabeth Prager was the top performer in the pool, winning three individual events. Prager won the 200-yard free, 200-yard back and 500-yard free swims. Jillian Wright also registered a win, capturing the 200-yard breast.

In addition to her win, Wright finished third in the 200-yard individual medley and fourth in the 100-yard breast race. Rebecca Avery placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, and she took fifth in the both the 1,000-yard free and 100-yard free swims.

The team of Avery, Abbie Bradshaw, Prager and Wright took second in the 200-yard free, and they finished fourth in the 200-yard medley.

The Pitt-Bradford men won a total of nine events, led by the trio of Nicholas Boyd, Corey Koss and Noah Frederick, who each won a pair of events.

Boyd took first in the 200-yard and 50-yard free swims, Koss finished first in the 100-yard and 200-yard back races, and Frederick was tops in the 100-yard breast and 100-yard free.

Devyn Condon won the 200-yard butterfly race, and Lucas Cerchiaro was first in the 200-yard breast swim.

The 200-yard medley relay of Koss, Frederick, Condon and Smith also won. Runner-up finishes for the Panthers included Cerchiaro in the 1,000-yard free, Hunter Mohney in the 50-yard and Carey Behm in the 200-yard back and 500-yard free races.

Pitt-Bradford will swim at Wells next Saturday in a non-conference matchup.
