Panther Swimming Teams Compete at Fredonia Blue Devil Invite

The Pitt-Bradford men's and women's swimming teams competed at the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational this weekend, and the men finished seventh while the women were ninth.

Allegheny won the men's title with 638 points, narrowly edging runner-up Penn State Behrend (631), and John Carroll was third with 611 points. The Panthers finished with a three-day total of 223 points.

Pitt-Bradford was led by Lucas Cerchiaro, who recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard individual medley. He also took 10th in the 200-yard individual medley.

In other individual results, Corey Koss placed seventh in the 100-yard back, Nick Boyd was seventh in the 100-yard free, and Carey Behm took seventh in the 1,650-yard free.

Behm finished 11th in the 500-yard free, Devyn Condon took 12th in the 200-yard butterfly, and Boyd was 12th in the 100-yard butterfly and 17th in the 50-yard free. Koss placed 13th in the 200-yard back, and Noah Frederick finished 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke race.

The 800-yard free team of Koss, Behm, Zachery France and Cerchiaro posted the Panthers top relay finish with a sixth-place showing.

The team of Koss, Frederick, Cerchiaro and Boyd finished ninth in the 200-yard medley and 10th in the 400-yard medley, and Boyd, Cerchiaro, France and Behm finished 11th in the 400-yard free relay.

John Carroll captured the women's title with 942.5 total points, Allegheny was runner-up with 614 points, and Oberlin took third with 511 points. The Panther women finished with 126 total points.

Elizabeth Prager had the top individual showing for Pitt-Bradford, finishing fifth in the 400-yard individual medley in school-record time of 5:04.81. She was eighth in the 200-yard backstroke race and 10th in the 1,650-yard free.

In other individual results, Jillian Wright finished 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke swim.

The relay team of Prager, Wright, Rebecca Avery and Abbie Bradshaw finished 10th in the 400-yard medley, the 200-yard medley relay squad of Prager, Wenjing Miao, Avery and Bradshaw took 10th, and Prager, Wright, Miao and Bradshaw placed 10th in the 200-yard free.

The 400-yard free relay team of Wright, Avery, Bradshaw and Miao also finished 10th, and the 800-yard free relay of Prager, Wright, Avery and Miao finished 13th.

The Pitt-Bradford swimming teams will return to action on Jan. 4 when they host Franciscan and Bethany in a tri-meet.
