The Pitt-Bradford men's swimming team earned its first win of the season Saturday, defeating Cabrini 142-100 in AMCC action. The women fell by a score of 151-63.

The men won a total of nine events, led by Corey Koss and Nicholas Boyd. Koss won the 50-yard (26.48) and 100-yard backstroke (56.69) races, and Boyd took first in the 100-yard freestyle (51.76) and 50-yard butterfly (25.67).

Carey Behm was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, winning in a time of 10:56.54, Zachary France won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.19 and Lucas Cerchiaro finished the 100-yard butterfly in a winning time of 54.64.

Noah Frederick took first in the 50-yard breaststroke in 31.15, and the 200-yard medley relay team of Koss, Frederick, Cerchiaro and Boyd won in 1:42.19.

In other results, Mitchell Smith was second in the 200-yard freestyle, France placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, and Boyd was the runner-up in 50-yard freestyle.

Behm finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, France was third and Smith placed fourth.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Prager, Rebecca Avery and Jillian Wright each recorded individual wins.

Prager won the 50-yard freestyle in 27.64 and 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.44, Avery captured the 50-yard butterfly in 33.16, and Wright won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:40.09.

Runner-up finishes included Prager in the 200-yard freestyle, Avery in the 100-yard freestyle and Wright in the 50-yard breaststroke. Avery was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Valentine took third in the 50-yard backstroke and Wright finished third in the 500-yard freestyle.

The 200-yard medley team of Prager, Wright, Avery and Valentine finished second in 2:17.14.

"This was a strong meet from us right from the first event," said head coach Doug Ablan. "The men's victory was a full team effort. 

The skills we work on in practice are starting to show already in the meet environment. They are learning how to become racers."

Pitt-Bradford returns to the water next Saturday at Penn State Atloona.
