Stowe Scores in Loss to Hilbert

Hamburg, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team traveled to Hilbert on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Hawks 10-1.

The Panthers started the game in the defensive end as Alyssa Andersen was forced into 3 saves within the opening 10 minutes. While Hilbert took control of the game early, the Panthers were able to break through first as they got on the board in the 15th minute. The Panthers were able to counter the Hawks' attack and while in the 18-yard box, Rachel Sewell drew a foul giving the Panthers a spot kick. Delaney Stowe stepped up and fired her shot into the goal to put the Panthers up 1.

The lead would not last long, as the hosts were able to strike back in the 21st and then three minutes later, score again to take the lead. The Panthers stayed within one for the majority of the half, as Andersen made three more stops, but they were not able to get to the break trailing by one as Hilbert added another tally with a minute and a half to go. 

The Panthers struggled to get started after halftime, but their opponents did not have the same struggles, as they were able to score four times within 13 minutes of play in the half. After Hilbert scored again to go ahead 8-1, the Panthers were able to break the pressure as Makartnee Mortimer managed to put a shot on target in the 74th minute. The break did not last long, as the hosts were able to score two more times before the game ended.

Delaney Stowe scored the lone goal for the Panthers, it was her 2nd of the year. Makartnee Mortimer put a shot on goal, while Hannah Clarke had a shot attempt blocked. Alyssa Andersen made 13 saves for the Panthers.

The loss drops Pitt-Bradford to 0-14 on the year with a 0-7 record in AMCC play. They will be back on the road for their weekend matchup, as they will take on Penn State-Altoona on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
