Panthers Fall to Lions

Salamanca, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team was back in action on Wednesday evening, as they took on top-of-the-table Penn State-Behrend in Salamanca. The Panthers struggled to keep up with the Lions' potent offense as they lost the match 10-0.

The visitors were able to jump on the Panthers early, as they opened the scoring in the 4th minute, and after Alyssa Anderson made a pair of saves in the Pitt-Bradford goal, added a second in the 10th. The Lions continued pressing the Panthers and were able to add three more goals to their tally over a four-minute span. Andersen added two more stops before the Lions scored their sixth goal of the half in the 33rd minute and added one more just before the break in the 45th.

After halftime, the Panthers were able to regroup and work to keep the Lions from adding to their lead. They kept the visitors off the board for nearly 20 minutes but conceded two goals in a one-minute span to see the deficit pushed to nine. Andersen continued working in the Panther net, making three more saves over the final 25 minutes, allowing one final goal in the 83rd minute.

Andersen finished the game with 15 saves, including 9 in the opening stanza. Chloe Shaw was able to advance into the Lion end and find enough space to get off the lone shot for the Panthers.

Pitt-Bradford falls to 0-9 on the season, with a 0-3 record in AMCC play. They will be back on the road this weekend, as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on LaRoche in another AMCC tilt. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the Baierl Athletic Complex.
