Panthers Blanked by Pioneers

Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team traveled to Alfred State on Tuesday evening, taking on the Pioneers in an AMCC matchup. The Panthers struggled to get their footing in the game and fell 6-0.

The hosts took control early, winning three early corner kicks and forcing Alyssa Anderson into a save. In the 20th minute, they were able to open the scoring as they converted from the penalty spot after a handball in the box. They added to the lead three minutes later and then in the 34th minute, scored again from the penalty spot after a Panther foul in the box.

After the break, the Pioneers took under three minutes to add to their lead. They later scored a 5th goal in the 60th minute, and then their 6th in the 77th minute. Anderson made two more late saves to avoid further damage.

Alyssa Anderson finished the game with 8 saves in the Panther net. The Panthers struggled to keep possession in the game, as they were unable to advance into the offensive end to record a shot.

The loss moves the Panthers to 0-2 on the season with a 0-2 record in AMCC play. They will be back in action on Saturday when they host AMCC newcomer Carlow University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Field in Bradford.
