Panthers Stifled by Eagles

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team hosted the Juniata Eagles on Friday night, falling to the Eagles 6-0.

The visitors went on the attack right away, forcing Alyssa Andersen into an opening-minute save. They opened the scoring 8 minutes in, as Andersen was unable to handle a high shot from the wing that found the far side netting. Andersen stopped two shots and made multiple plays on through balls before the Eagles were able to score off of a corner kick. They added another quick goal four minutes later on their next attack. The Panthers ceded a fourth goal in the 33rd minute before ending the half with another Andersen save.

The Panthers were back on the defensive at the start of the second half. The Panthers did get a respite in the 64th minute as Riley Stowe carried the ball up the field and was able to find enough room for a shot, but could not find the target. A few minutes later, Delaney Stowe was able to get a shot off as well. The Eagles retook control of the game offensively after the chances and scored their 5th goal of the match in the 77th. Riley Stowe was able to put the Panthers' only shot on target in the 77th minute before the visitors got behind the defense to score their final goal with just 40 seconds remaining on the clock.

Riley Stowe finished the game with 2 shots, putting one on target. Delaney Stowe also had a shot. Alyssa Andersen stopped 9 shots in the loss while making countless other plays on through balls behind the defense.

The Panthers fell to 0-5 after the loss. Their next game will be on Wednesday, September 20th, when they travel to Elmira for a 4:00 p.m. game.
