Stowe Scores in Loss to Westminster

Kane, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team was back in action on Wednesday evening, hosting Westminster in Kane, Pa. After falling behind early, the Panthers tied the game at 1, but could not stay with the Titans who went on to win 9-1.

Alyssa Anderson made an early save but saw Westminster take the lead in the 6th when she charged out of her box for a through ball but was beaten to the pass by a Titan attacker, who slid a shot to her right that found the bottom corner.

In the 21st, the Panthers took advantage of a Westminster mistake to tie the match at one. While the Panthers attacked, the Titans sent a pass back to the goalkeeper, who picked the ball up, resulting in an indirect free kick inside the 18-yard box. On the resulting free kick, Riley Stowe tapped the ball into play and Delaney Stowe ripped a left-footed shot into the left side netting for a goal. The score was Delaney's first of the season and 7th of her career.

The Titans did not take long to respond, as they quickly scored two more times in the next five minutes. They continued their attack throughout the rest of the half, but Andersen tallied 10 saves in the half, keeping the score at 3-1 at the half.

It did not take the visitors long to regain their form after the break, as they quickly struck for three more goals within the first 10 minutes of the half. They added two more goals in the 61st and 65th minutes and wrapped up the scoring with a final goal in the 75th.

Andersen made 5 more saves in the 2nd half bringing her total to 14 for the game. Raquel Sewell was able to put a shot on target in the 81st. Delaney Stowe scored the lone goal for the Panthers.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 0-4 on the season. They will return to the pitch on Friday when they host Juniata at 7:00 p.m. The game will be held at Parkway Field in Bradford.
