Women's Soccer Returns to AMCC Play against LaRoche

Bradford, Pa. -- After a non-conference loss to Lycoming, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team returns to AMCC action on Saturday when they host LaRoche University.

The Panthers have been unable to pick up a win in the first half of their season but showed signs of promise against a tough Lycoming team on Thursday. The Panthers battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie the game at 2. Goals from Alexis Gibbons and Cassidy King scored the goals from the Panthers. Despite the momentum shift in the game, the Panthers were unable to hold on as a tenacious Lycoming attack scored 4 goals in the final 30 minutes to win the contest. Goalkeeper Emily Bethel was especially good for the Panthers in the game, making a career-high 17 saves in the loss. Bethel currently leads the AMCC with 91 saves. The Panthers have been balanced on the scoresheet as four different players are tied for the team lead with two goals. They are Gibbons, King, Carolelyn LaPrairie and Delaney Stowe. Stowe has also added an assist.

LaRoche enters the match with a 2-6-1 overall record and a 0-0-1 mark in conference play. The Redhawks drew 1-1 with Hilbert in their AMCC opener and lost 3-2 to Muskingum during their midweek matchup. Senior Alondra Gonzalez leads the RedHawks with 3 goals and 32 shots. She has also added an assist. Alexis Nudds has scored two goals on 25 shots. Freshman Bella Costanzo has played the most minutes in net for LaRoche, allowing 23 goals and making 41 saves in 9 games played.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. on the soccer field at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
