Courtney Shade Voted D3 Women's Soccer HERO of the Week

BRADFORD, Pa. -- Senior Courtney Shade of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team has been voted HEROSports.com's D3 Women's Soccer HERO of the Week for her performance during the period of Oct. 1-7, officials announced Friday.

"Courtney had a great game against Hilbert and has been consistent with scoring for us all season," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "This is an exciting and well-deserved recognition."

With the help of dedicated Panther supporters, Shade picked up nearly 500 total votes, 69.08% of all total votes, to earn the convincing victory.

On Wednesday, the Bradford native scored four goals to help power the Panthers to a 9-0 win over Hilbert.

Her four goals were the program's most in a single game since Melissa Smith scored the same amount against Hilbert on Oct. 28, 2014.

She also assisted a goal in the win.

Saturday, she followed up her strong offensive eruption with a goal on a penalty kick and an assist in a thrilling comeback 3-2 win over La Roche.

Fittingly, Shade was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.

On the season, Shade has scored eight goals and assisted three. Her seven goals in conference play are tied for second-most in the AMCC.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action Saturday hosting Franciscan for an AMCC contest starting at 1 p.m.
