Women's Soccer Set for AMCC Showdown with PSU Behrend

Women's Soccer Set for AMCC Showdown with PSU Behrend

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team heads into Wednesday afternoon's AMMC championship rematch with a 3-0 record in the conference.

The Panther's incredibly tough non-conference slate has prepared the team well for conference action, and Wednesday's game against the only other undefeated team in the conference, Penn State Behrend, should be a great test. The game will be played at 3:15 p.m. at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

"These games are easy to get emotional about.  For me, at this stage of the season, and with this edition of our team, we are really still trying to work out our own identity in terms of how we need to play," said Panthers head coach Mike Idland. "So, I'm not looking at this as some kind of "winner-takes-all" type of situation; it's more just about trying to keep progressing as a team with this game, learn from it, and use it to positively build towards accomplishing some of our goals further down the line."

Sarah Dailey has been magnificent in goal for Pitt-Bradford. The sophomore currently leads the conference in save percentage (.828) and is second in saves and goals-against average.

Pitt-Bradford has been getting production from numerous players on offense, as seven different players have scored goals this season. Kaitlyn Williams leads the offense with five goals, while Jamie Christensen and Kaitlyn Donnelly have chipped in with three goals. Abby Celesky and Grace Dadzaa have two goals, and Maggie Boehler and Delaney Houtz each have one goal each heading into Wednesday's showdown with Penn State Behrend.

The two teams have a rich history as the Panthers and Lions have met in the AMCC Championships four straight years. Penn State Behrend has won all four of those meetings, including three AMCC Championship games, by just one goal. Pitt-Bradford won the regular season match in 2011 and 2014.
