Panthers Sweep Day 3 of AMCC Round Robin, Finish 6th

Kenmore, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford bowled in the final day of the AMCC Round Robin 1 on Sunday morning, winning all three of their matches to finish the event with a 5-5 record, which puts them in 6th place.

The Panthers started the day with Mount Aloysius, winning 774-727. They got off to a slow start, losing the opening game 108-182, but were able to chip into the lead with a 151-119 win in the second game. Mount Aloysius took game 3 147-157, however, Pitt-Bradford battled back and won the 4th game 185-134, sending the match to a deciding 5th game with Pitt-Bradford trailing by 1 pin. The Panthers were able to come through in the 5th, winning 183-135 to secure the match win. 

In game two the Panthers were able to continue building momentum off of their first win, taking down Hilbert with their best match of the day to win 833-797. The Panthers got off to a much better start, as they won the first game 146-127 and the second 191-161. They fell in game three 149-164 but were able to push their lead to 62 pins after winning the fourth game 178-142. The Panthers posted a strong score in game five but were able to withstand a rally from the Hawks, who took the final game 169-195.

Pitt-Bradford closed the event with a matchup against Penn State-Altoona, which they won 786-732. The Panthers struggled in the opener, falling 127-133. They were able to respond to the loss, winning the final four games of the match. They took the lead with a 162-125 win in game two and then outscored the Lions 196-186 to extend their lead in the third. They won game a tight matchup in game 4 148-145, and closed the Round Robin with a 153-143 win in game 5. 

Over the three-day Round Robin, Brookelyn Garvey finished as the leader for the Panthers, as she averaged 17.05 pins per frame as the Pitt-Bradford anchor bowler. Ekaterina Wilson had a strong showing, averaging 16.10 pins per frame, while also leading the Panthers with 31 strikes. Erin Wales finished the event with an average of 15.96 pins per frame, while Sarah Newland was just behind her at 15.43. Alexis Whitfield bowled 62 frames for the Panthers with an average of 13.44, and Olivia Shultz completed 37 frames at an average of 13.41.

The Panthers are in 6th place in the AMCC standings with a 5-5 record after the round-robin. They will be back in action on Saturday, December 2nd when they travel to Erie for a matchup with Penn State-Behrend which will bring their fall semester to a close. The action is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Eastland Bowl.
