Two Panther Bowlers Named All-AMCC; Garvey, Hoover Win Individual Awards

Bradford, Pa. -- The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its women’s bowling postseason awards and All-Conference selections on Tuesday and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford had two players and a coach receive honors.

Brookelyn Garvey was named to the first team and as the AMCC’s Newcomer of the Year, while teammate Jordyn Graham made the third team. Head Coach Gregg Hoover was also voted conference coach of the year.

Brookelyn Garvey became the first Panther to win a post-season award since 2016-17 when Brianna Saylor also won Newcomer of the Year. Garvey finished the year with an 18.745 pin per frame average, which was the 2nd best in the AMCC. She was second in the Traditional Format with an average of 18.869 and 4th in Baker with 18.609. She led the conference in strike percentage at 46.4%. She was the Panthers’ anchor bowler, where she posted the 2nd best 10th frame scoring average at 19.105 pins per frame and had the highest double percentage at 22.2%. She was also named to the AMCC Championship All-Tournament Team.

Bowling in her second season with the Panthers, Jordyn Graham picked up her first collegiate honors as she was voted to the third team. Graham was 14th in the AMCC with a 16.583 pins per frame average. She did most of her damage in the traditional format, where her 17.684 pins per frame average was the 8th best in the AMCC. She was 9th in traditional fill percentage, marking on 72.9% of her frames. She was also top 15 in the conference with a strike percentage of 32.1% and a single pin spare percentage of 73.8%

Gregg Hoover is the first Panther coach to be voted coach of the year since Andy Spring was named Co-Coach of the Year in the conference’s inaugural bowling campaign. Hoover led the Panthers to a 3rd place finish in conference play their best since the conference expanded to more than 6 teams. The Panthers clinched the third seed by posting a 7-1 record in the second AMCC Round Robin.
