Pitt-Bradford Women's Basketball: Season Preview

Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team is prepared to begin their 2022-23 campaign as they look to move back up the AMCC standings.

The Panthers went 3-21 last season with a 1-15 record in AMCC play. They started their season with back-to-back wins over Houghton and Penn state-DuBois but were unable to get back in the win column until early February, when they beat Medaille at home.

The Panthers will bring back the majority of their team from 2021 as they move into the new season. Cailey Barnett returns as the Panthers' top scorer from last campaign, as she averaged 11.0 points per game. Cassidy King finished 2021-22 as the 4th best rebounder in the AMCC, grabbing 9.8 per contest.

Also returning for the Panthers are seniors Ashley Hall and Daizjah Brown, who averaged 7.1 and 6.8 points per game respectively. Sophomores Alexa Ackerman and Avery Benzel will look to continue to pick up solid playing time after averaging over 24 minutes per game each in their first year with the program. Alannah Allen and Summer Anderson will look to provide quality minutes off the bench.

After missing last season through injury, Katie Woolson and Lauryn Moore will make their debuts for the Panthers along with freshmen Abigail Goss, McKenna Kelly, and Trinity Lockwood-Morris.

"We are excited to get back on the court this season and start playing," said head coach Kaserra Owens. "There has been a lot of growth from our returners, and we are excited to see how our incoming players fit into our program."

The Panthers will begin their season with 5 straight away from home. Their first game will be against Hunter on Friday, November 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the first game of the Seahawk invitational, hosted by St. Mary's of Maryland. Their first game back in KOA Arena will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd against Medaille.
