Panthers Back in Action Against Mavs

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team will host the Medaille Mavericks in their midweek AMCC matchup on Wednesday night.

The Panthers are currently 2-18 overall with an 0-12 record in AMCC play. They were officially eliminated from postseason contention on Monday night as a result of their 77-68 loss against Mount Aloysius. Daizjah Brown and Cassidy King led the way for the Panthers in the loss, each scoring 16 points. Brown was 6-10 from the field and 4-5 from the line. King scored her 16 on 7-11 shooting and added 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. Cailey Barnett and Hannah Lary also finished in double figures, with Barnett scoring 15 and Lary adding 12.

Hannah Lary has been the Panthers leading scorer this season, as she averages 13.6 points per game. She also leads the team with 3.1 assists per game. Cassidy King has been a major focal point for the Panthers' offense over the past week as she has averaged 17.3 points per contest over a three-game stretch. She is also the team's leading rebounder at 9.9 per game. Daizjah Brown has been extremely efficient over the same stretch, scoring 40 points on 57.7% shooting. Cailey Barnett is the only other Panther to average double figures, scoring 11.3 per game.

Medaille is 10-11 on the season with a 5-7 record against AMCC opponents. They are currently in 5th place in the amcc standings. The Mavericks were dominant over the weekend at Mount Aloysius, beating the Mounties 77-48. Desmonique Veal led the way with 19 points, while Shyanne Trinh was just behind her at 18 points. Trinh has led the Mavericks in scoring this season, as she averages 14.1 per game. She shoots 36% from the field and 30.8% from three. Veal is the only other Maverick to average double figures, as she scores 10.5 per game. Ariea Garrett leads the team with 8.8 rebounds per game.

The Panthers fell short in a comeback attempt in their first matchup, falling to the Mavericks 64-60 in Buffalo. They were able to cut an 8 point margin down to just 2 points with 12 seconds to go before being unable to get a defensive stop as the Mavericks broke the Panther press and put the game away. Cailey Barnett scored 16 points and had 7 rebounds. Hannah Lary finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists while Ashley Hall and Avery Benzel scored 10 apiece.

The following regulations will be in place to align with Pitt-Bradford's COVID-19 mitigation efforts for indoor events. All spectators, game staff, officials, and team members not actively participating on the court are required to wear a mask at all times. Masks must be affixed to cover the wearer's nose and mouth. All spectators will be required to sign in upon their entrance into the facility, as the lists will be used in any contact tracing efforts that may become necessary. They will be required to provide a name and contact phone number to game staff.
