Panthers Begin 2022 with Penn State-Behrend

Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team will return to action for the first time in the new year with an AMCC match-up against Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday evening.

The Panthers enter the game with a 2-9 overall record and a 0-3 record in AMCC play. Before the holidays, the Panthers hosted Pitt-Greensburg, falling to the Bobcats by a score of 105-52. The Panthers were scheduled to return to action against Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, ut saw their matchup postponed. It has been rescheduled for Monday, January 17th at 2:00 p.m.  

Cailey Barnett has led the Panthers of late, averaging 18.0 points per game in the month of December. On the season, she averages 12.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Against AMCC opponents, she is averaging 18.3 points per game, the second-best total in the conference. Cassidy King has led the Panther effort on the boards, grabbing 11.1 per contest. She is second in the AMCC in the category.

Penn State-Behrend is returning to conference play after last picking up a win over Medaille on December, 11. The Lions put together a 9 game winning streak but saw the run come to an end before the new year as they fell to Trine in a neutral court matchup in Nashville, Tn. They enter the matchup at 9-2 on the season with a 3-0 record in AMCC play.

The Lions are led by three seniors, who all average over 12 points per game. Kara Haslett is the leading scorer, averaging 15 per contest. She is shooting 39.6% from the field and 34.3% from three and leads the team with 5.3 assists per game. Just behind Haslett is Caitlin Carnuche, who averages 13.6 points per game. Forward Alanna Dibble is a double threat for Penn State-Behrend, averaging 12.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

The following regulations will be in place to align with Pitt-Bradford's COVID-19 mitigation efforts for indoor events. All spectators, game staff, officials, and team members not actively participating on the court are required to wear a mask at all times. Masks must be affixed to cover the wearer's nose and mouth. All spectators will be required to sign in upon their entrance into the facility, as the lists will be used in any contact tracing efforts that may become necessary. They will be required to provide a name and contact phone number to game staff.
