LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team hung tough at Lock Haven (Division II) Wednesday evening.

Ultimately, though, the Bald Eagles edged the Panthers, 64-54.

"We got better as a team today," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "I was extremely pleased with our play tonight. We came out with a lot of energy and scored big in the first half. Although we struggled to score in the last quarter, I am proud of our fight today. Our future is bright."

Shaelyn Snipes matched her career-high from a game ago with 25 points, shooting 8-18 from the floor while playing all 40 minutes.

Latifah Cain added 14 points and eight boards.

Jennifer Isenberg pulled down a game-best 14 rebounds.

Pitt-Bradford won the opening quarter, riding nine points from Snipes while shooting 61.5 percent (8-13) to take a 19-15 lead.

Lock Haven found its offensive stroke in the second, though, and outscored Pitt-Bradford 25-15 in the period to take a narrow 35-34 lead into the half.

Back-and-forth, the two teams traded the lead in the third period.

Down the stretch, a layup from Cain put Pitt-Bradford ahead, 49-48, but Lock Haven answered with a three-pointer on the following possession and took a 51-49 lead into the final quarter.

Lock Haven then pulled away, outscoring the Panthers 13-5 in the fourth period to secure the 10-point win.

Pitt-Bradford competed well on the boards with the Division II squad, as the two teams grabbed an even 49 rebounds apiece.

The Panthers collected seven steals on Lock Haven possessions, led by two apiece from Isenberg and Snipes.

Pitt-Bradford outshot Lock Haven 34.4 percent to 30.4 percent.

Snipes knocked down all three of Pitt-Bradford's three-pointers.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will remain on the road and take on John Carroll next Tuesday.
