BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford completed the season sweep of Medaille Wednesday night, 66-52, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game.
"We did not get off to a great start as we were not very efficient on offense," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "But after halftime adjustments, we played hard and finished the game strong. Ali had a great scoring night and helped pace our victory in the end."
Ali Rinfrette scored 34 points to lead all scorers, accounting for more than half of the Panthers' total points.
Jennifer Isenberg collected 10 rebounds and Etreece Adams scored eight points and grabbed as many rebounds.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-6 in AMCC play while Medaille drops to 8-7. The two teams entered the day with a three-way tie for third place in the AMCC with La Roche.
Both two teams went scoreless in the early minutes until Etreece Adams laid one in for the first points of the game at the 7:43 mark.
Neither offense found its rhythm in the first quarter as Medaille held a 9-8 lead at the conclusion of the opening period.
After a Medaille layup to start the second quarter, Rinfrette connected from long range to tie the game at 11-11.
Medaille went on to build an 18-11 lead but Allison Guengerich put an end to the run with a three-pointer at the 3:38 mark.
Four points in the final 1:20 of the first half from Rinfrette helped cut into the deficit and Medaille took a 23-18 lead into the half.
But Pitt-Bradford responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring Medaille 25-12.
Pitt-Bradford quickly erased the Medaille lead with six-straight points on buckets from Isenberg, Adams and Anna Colebert.
Rinfrette knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the quarter to guide the Panthers to a 43-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The senior then took over in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 points in the period to hold off Medaille.
In total, Rinfrette went 12-13 from the free-throw line and she knocked down 8-9 attempts in the fourth quarter alone.
Tonight's performance is Rinfrette's second game of 30 points or more, as she tied her career high of 38 points on Dec. 6 at Chatham. She has also scored 20 or more points in 11 of the team's 21 games this season.
The Panther defense forced 31 Medaille turnovers. Pitt-Bradford collected 18 steals, led by five from Rinfrette and three apiece from Adams, Colebert and Isenberg.
Pitt-Bradford scored 30 points off turnovers.
Up next, the Panthers will play two-straight games at home, first hosting Penn State-Behrend Saturday for Senior Day and Special Olympics Day. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
