ALTOONA, Pa. – In a back-and-forth showdown, Penn State-Altoona came out on top over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team, 77-73, on Wednesday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.

"I thought we fought really hard today," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "But, ultimately, we did not hit our shots."

Ali Rinfrette led all scorers with 29 points.

Jennifer Isenberg had a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Shaelyn Snipes chipped in 12 points of her own.

Isenberg knocked down a free throw and Snipes hit a three-pointer to get the Panthers' offense started and bring the score to 7-4 in favor of Penn State-Altoona.

Lyric Collins later connected from long ranged and Isenberg laid in a pair to round out the scoring in the first period for the Panthers, and Altoona took an 18-11 advantage into the second quarter.

Rinfrette then caught fire, scoring all 13 of her first-half points in the second quarter.

After a pair of early buckets in the second quarter from Altoona, Rinfrette scored her first points on the game on a jumper to bring the score to 22-13 at the 8:12 mark.

The bucket from Rinfrette sparked a 7-0 run for the Panthers and she then hit a three-pointer and Anna Colebert laid one in. 

The Panthers extended the run to a 14-2 as a layup from Collins in transition gave Pitt-Bradford a 25-24 lead at the 3:33 mark.

Altoona later held a five-point lead with 37 seconds left in the half, until Rinfrette made the advantage disappear.

A three-pointer off a feed from Bri Wells with 29 seconds left cut the Altoona lead to two points, and a Panther defensive stop led to a jumper from Rinfrette with three seconds left in the half.

The two teams went into the half tied, 33-33. 

Pitt-Bradford and Penn State-Altoona put together a low-scoring third quarter, but the Panthers came away with a two-point advantage.

Rinfrette started the scoring with a three-ball and a layup from Snipes later sparked an 8-3 Panther run to bring the score to 44-41 in favor of Pitt-Bradford.

A jumper from Altoona cut the Panther lead to one at the 1:26 mark and Wells answered with a pair of free throws to get the points back.

One free throw with 13 seconds left in the quarter sent the two teams to the fourth quarter with the Panthers ahead, 46-44.

A pair of quick fouls by the Panthers led to four made free throws for Altoona and the Lions took a 48-46 advantage 20 seconds into the quarter. 

But Isenberg tied it back up with a layup at the 9:07 mark.

With the Panthers ahead a pair at the 6:52 mark, back-to-back layups from the Lions put Altoona ahead, 58-56, with 5:47 left.

Isenberg tied the game with a layup, but this time, a pair of layups put Altoona ahead, 62-58, with 4:24 left.

The two teams continued to trade points but Altoona maintained the lead. With the Lions up four with 36 seconds left, Snipes hit a three-pointer from the corner to cut the deficit to one.

Pitt-Bradford then fouled and Altoona connected on its free throws throughout the rest of regulation and held on, 77-73.

The Lions connected on 21 on 22 free throws and shot 54.5 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter. 

The Panthers won the battle of the boards, 50-47. Adams pulled down 11 rebounds in addition to Isenberg's 14.

Up next, the Panthers will head to Penn State-Behrend for an AMCC matchup Saturday.
