BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team battled all 40 minutes but Mount Aloysius took a narrow one-point win, 68-67, Saturday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game at the KOA Arena.

"They out-toughed us," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "We came out dead in the third quarter and with a chance to win at the end, we didn't execute. We have to put together a full 40 minutes of basketball if we are going to be successful moving forward."

Ali Rinfrette led the Panthers with 16 points, while Jennifer Isenberg, Aria Alston-Smith and Shirleah Ragin scored 12 points apiece.

Rinfrette recorded a double-double as she pulled down 11 rebounds as well.

The lead changed hands 15 times while the score was tied 13 times in today's tight matchup.

The two teams put together a high-scoring first quarter, ending the period tied at 19 all.

Rinfrette did most of the scoring for the Panthers in the quarter, erupting for a quick 10 points to start the game. The senior was perfect in the quarter, going 2-2 at the line, 2-2 from long range and 3-3 total on field goal attempts.

The second quarter started similarly to the first with neither team giving way to a strong lead. 

A jumper from Alston-Smith and a pair of free throws from Ragin before the end of the half sent the Panthers into the break ahead 33-28.

Early in the second half, Etreece Adams grabbed a rebound and laid one in to give the Panthers a 35-28 lead at the 8:49 mark. 

But, the advantage would prove to be the Panthers' largest lead of the game, as Mount Aloysius came back with seven-straight points to tie the game at 35-35 with seven minutes left in the quarter.

Ragin knocked down a three-pointer to end the run, but Mount answered with a three-ball of its own to tie the game back at 38-38.

That three-pointer ended up sparking a 12-0 Mount run, and the Mounties opened up a 47-38 advantage with 2:36 left in the third quarter – its largest lead of the contest.

But back came the Panthers, using a layup from Rinfrette, a three-ball from Alston-Smith and a lay-in from Jennifer Isenberg to tie the game at 48-48 at the end of the quarter.

Down the stretch, the two teams were tied 66-66 with 49 seconds left in regulation after Isenberg laid one in.

A free-throw with 25 seconds left and another with 15 seconds left put Mount ahead, 68-66. 

Isenberg connected on one at the line with six seconds remaining to cut the lead to a single point.

Mount Aloysius missed a pair of free throws with two seconds left and the Panthers called a timeout to advance the ball, giving themselves a chance to win the game.  

But the Mounties broke up the inbounds pass, which was corralled by Rinfrette, but she was unable to get the shot off and the 68-67 final held up.

Pitt-Bradford out-rebounded the Mounties, 55-38, and Isenberg joined Rinfrette with a double-digit rebound total of 10.

The Panthers performed well at the line, going 10-14 from the stripe. A by-committee effort, Isenberg led the way with three made.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next on Dec. 30 as the Panthers travel to Rutgers-Newark.
