UPB Women Snap Losing Skid with Victory over Medaille

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team knows every game is a must win if they hope to keep the second seed heading into the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference playoffs.

The Panthers (16-8, 12-5) snapped their three-game losing skid with an 81-71 victory over conference foe, Medaille College (4-20, 3-14), Wednesday evening in the KOA Arena.

Ali Rinfrette was outstanding, leading the Panthers offense with 34 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Brittany Watts followed with 12 points and six boards while Abby Brate finished with 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Karissa Cratty added eight points off of the bench in the Panther's victory.

Kelli McCauley led three Mavericks scoring in double figures with 19 points and six rebounds while Marceann Dunning followed with 13 points and Courtney Coots chipped in with 11 points in the loss. 

Pitt-Bradford outrebounded the Mavericks 51-36 while forcing 14 Maverick turnovers in the victory. 

The Panthers took an early 13-9 lead in the first quarter, but the Mavericks answered with a strong second quarter, pulling within 33-30 at the half.

Pitt-Bradford extended their lead to nine at 56-47 heading into the final quarter. Medaille hung around, but never made a run as the Panthers snuck away with the crucial 81-71 victory.

The Panthers close out the regular season Saturday afternoon at three at Mt. Aloysius.
