Lantz Leads UPB Women to Victory over PSU-Altoona

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team (8-4, 4-1) continued its early dominance of AMCC opponents, cruising past Penn State Altoona (2-4, 2-9), 83-59, on Saturday afternoon at the KOA Arena. 

Darien Lantz poured in a season-high 21 points and added five rebounds to lead the Panthers offense. Ali Rinfrette followed with 20 points and six boards while Brittany Watts finished with 18 points and four rebounds. Abby Brate just missed a double-double, posting nine points, 10 assists and three steals while Kaserra Owens finished with a team-high 11 boards in the victory.

Nicole Gripp led the Lions with 11 points and Megan Wheeler chipped in with 10 points in the loss. 

Penn State Altoona scored the first two buckets of the game to take a 4-0 lead early on, but the Panthers responded, taking a 19-12 lead at the end of the quarter and never looking back.

Pitt-Bradford dominated the rest of the game, leading by as many as 26 early in the fourth quarter. 

The Panthers' bench was terrific, outscoring the Lions 45-21 while the Pitt-Bradford defense forced 17 turnovers in the victory.

The Panthers get right back into action Sunday afternoon at three against Mount Aloysius at the KOA Arena.
