Rinfrette's Big Night Leads UPB Women Past Hilbert

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team got back on track with a 76-53 victory at Hilbert on Wednesday night.

Ali Rinfrette was outstanding yet again for the Panthers, scoring 24 points while ripping down eight boards. Kaserra Owens added 15 points and six rebounds while Abby Brate rounded out the Panthers in double figures with 12 points and three assists in the victory.

Shannon Rogers was the leading scorer for the Hawks, netting a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards in the loss.

The Panthers controlled the pace of the game early, outscoring the Hawks 36-24 in the opening half.

Owens caught fire in the first half, scoring eight of her 15 points in the first 10 minutes.

The Hawks clawed their way back into the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 18-15 over the opening 10 minutes of the second half and cutting the UPB lead to just 51-42.

The Panthers caught fire in the fourth, putting the game away early on in the final quarter, and leading to a 76-53 victory. Rinfrette scored 14 of her 24 points in the final 10 minutes.

The UPB basketball teams return to action Saturday afternoon at the KOA Arena against Penn State Altoona. The men's game is set to tip at 1 p.m. while the women's game follows at 3 p.m.
