Panther Softball Sweeps Athlete of the Week

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team had two players recognized by the AMCC on Monday as Bri Heller was named conference Pitcher of the Week and Lexi Peters earned Player of the Week honors.

Heller, a freshman from Duke Center, Pa.,  was 2-1 with a 1.56 ERA while throwing her first career no-hitter, striking out 25 batters over 18.0 innings. She threw the no-hitter with just two walks and 10 strikeouts in the win over Hilbert.  Heller followed that up with a two-hit, one-run win over La Roche. She also chipped in offensively, hitting .429 with two runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases. It is her first AMCC Pitcher of the Week Honor.

Peters, a senior from Ambridge, Pa., hit .409 with a home run, six runs scored, eight RBI, and a stolen base as the Panthers went 5-1 last week. In the 10-2 win over Mount Aloysius, she was 3-for-3 with a home run, seven total bases, two RBI, and two runs scored. It is the first time Peters has won the award this season and the 2nd time in her career.

The Panthers finished their regular season 23-9 with a 12-3 record in AMCC play. They earned the 2nd seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament and its 1st round bye. They will take on the winner of the matchup between #3 Mount Aloysius and # 6 Hilbert.
