Bradford, Pa. -- After a week full of games in Fort Myers, Fla. two members of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team have been named AMCC Athletes of the Week.

Sophomore infielder Lexi Peters was named AMCC Player of the Week. Peters hit .405 this week, leading the Panthers to four wins. She had 17 hits, scored six runs, and drove in 12. Peters also recorded five multi-hit games. She capped her week with a 5-for-5 performance in a win against SUNY Canton. She had six RBIs in the game and scored three runs.

Freshman Kindra Wessels was named AMCC Pitcher of the Week. Wessels posted a 2.78 era in a 2-2 week while in Fort Myers, Fla. with Pitt-Bradford this week. In seven appearances, she pitched 27.2 innings, allowing 11 earned runs while striking out seven. She picked up her first win in a complete-game shutout victory over Immaculata. Wessels also put in a strong week at the plate, hitting .375 with six runs scored on the week.

This was the first AMCC weekly award for both players. Last season, the Panthers swept the weekly awards on March 29th when Jordan Uhing and Hannah Lathrop shared the conference honors.

Peters, Wessels, and the rest of the Panthers will be back in action on Sunday, March 20th, when they travel to Berea, Oh. for a doubleheader at Baldwin Wallace. Their home opener is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 26th when they host Westminster.
