Panthers to Host Penn State-Altoona in Home Finale

Bradford, Pa. -- After two postponements due to weather and field conditions, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team will take on Penn-State Altoona in an AMCC doubleheader in the final scheduled home games of the season.  

The Panthers enter the matchup with a 9-19 overall record and a 5-5 record in AMCC play. They are currently in 5th place in the conference. In their last action, the Panthers picked up a two-game sweep over Alfred State in the AMCC games of the week. They came back from a 4-0 deficit in game one to win in extra innings 6-4, and easily took the nightcap 8-0 in 5 innings.

Sophomore infielder Lexi Peters has led the Panthers in most offensive categories as she is hitting .413 on the season with a home run, 18 runs scored, and 18 RBIs. Her batting average is the 7th best in the AMCC. Freshman Kindra Wessels is coming off a strong week that saw her pick up 2 wins in the circle while posting a .333 batting average. She leads the Panthers with 71.1 innings pitched, a 4.02 ERA, and 34 strikeouts. Ashley Stein leads the team in wins with 5.

Penn State-Altoona is in 2nd place in the AMCC standings with a 16-9 record and a 10-2 record in conference play. They split their midweek series with Mount Aloysius, dropping the opener 7-4, but battling back for a 10-5 win in game two. After missing the early part of the season Senior catcher Kristen Stewart has stepped up for the Lions, posting a .733 batting average against conference opponents. Two other players have hit above .500 in conference play as Gianna Hoppel is hitting .571 and Cameryn Feathers is hitting .512 against AMCC pitching. Casey Reese has logged the majority of innings for the Lions and has a 3.56 ERA. Freshman Alyssa Fisher is 9-2 with a 3.02 ERA.

Game one is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on the Softball Field at the Kessel Athletic complex with game two starting shortly afterward.
