Uhing Named AMCC Pitcher of the Week

Uhing Named AMCC Pitcher of the Week

Bradford, Pa. -- Following a dominating week in the circle for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team, senior Jordan Uhing was named Pitcher of the Week by the AMCC on Monday.

Uhing went 3-0 in her starts this week and picked up a save in a fourth victory over the weekend. She threw 21.0 innings this week, allowing only 2 earned runs. She struck out 21 batters, walked one opponent, and posted an ERA of 0.67

In her first game of the week, Uhing threw her first career no-hitter against Medaille. The feat was the fifth no-hitter in program history and was the first since 2018. In the game, Uhing allowed one runner to reach on a walk, and another on a fielder's choice. She retired the final 14 batters of the game and struck out 7.

"Jordan had a great week and really led us from the circle," said head coach Tina Phillips. "Her teammates also did a great job behind her defensively and gave her plenty of run support. This was well deserved!"

On Friday, Uhing picked up her second win of the week, throwing another complete game. Uhing retired the first 10 batters of the game until an infield hit broke up her streak. She finished the game allowing 1 unearned run on 4 hits. She struck out 8 in the game.

Uhing played a big part in both games of the Panther's weekend sweep at Pitt-Greensburg. In the opener, she entered the game in extra innings, after the Panthers had taken a 1-0 lead in the top half of the inning. The first batter she faced singled, moving the placed runner to third. She made a fine defensive play in the next at-bat, retiring the runner at third on a comebacker to the circle. She then got a grounder and fly out to escape the jam, and close the game for the Panthers.

In the nightcap, she picked up her third and final win of the week, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits. She struck out 6 in the game.

This is the second AMCC Pitcher of the Week award Uhing has received this season, and the 4th time in her career. She won the same award for the Panthers' opening week of the season that saw her win two games. She currently leads the AMCC in ERA, wins, and strikeouts.
