Jordan Uhing Named AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year

Bradford, Pa. -- Senior softball player Jordan Uhing added to her career honors on Tuesday when the AMCC announced that she has been named conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year. She is the first Panther to earn a preseason conference award since Sydney Mosby won the same award in 2014.

In her last full season of competition, Uhing won 14 games for the Panthers, which was the third-best tally in the conference. She also finished second in the AMCC in ERA, posting a 2.23 over 135 innings pitched. In conference play, she won seven games with a 3.00 ERA, while also adding a save. She was named AMCC Pitcher of the Week once during the season.

Before the 2020 season came to an early end, Uhing posted a 2.97 ERA over 33 innings pitched. She tallied 15 strikeouts over 7 appearances. Along with leading the Panthers in the field as a Junior, she also excelled in the classroom. Last April, she was named Pitt-Bradford Female Student-Athlete of the Year during the department's annual awards presentation.

"This is a well-deserved award for Jordan," said head coach Tina Phillips. "She puts in so much work to master her craft. She was off to a strong start last year and she’s had a great preseason this year."

Uhing and her teammates are preparing for their season to begin later this month. The Panthers were selected to finish in 3rd place in the Preseason Coaches Poll. Their season kicks off on Tuesday, March 23rd with a double-header at Alfred State.
