Panther Softball Looks to Stay in Win Column against Hilbert

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will play their 4th straight doubleheader at home, as they host Hilbert College for an AMCC matchup which has been rescheduled from April 13th.

The Panthers will head into the matchup fresh off a historical performance from senior pitcher Jordan Uhing. Uhing threw the third no-hitter in program history in the Panthers' 10-0 victory over Medaille. Uhing allowed only 2 batters to reach in the 6th inning game and retired the final 14 batters of the contest. The Panthers were able to maintain the momentum in the second game, holding on to a 4-3 lead for the final 4 innings to complete the sweep of the Mavericks.

This season, Uhing and fellow senior Kerrigan Hoffmann have pitched extremely well for the Panthers, as they are both 5-1 on the season. Uhing is second in the conference with a 1.91 era, and Hoffman is just behind her in 5th, with a 2.60. Uhing leads the conference in strikeouts per 7 innings, with 6.60.

While Uhing and Hoffmann have kept opponent bats quiet, the Panther offense has used a balanced attack that has posted the second-best run per game and batting average in the AMCC. Freshman Faith McLaughlin is leading the team in batting average, as she is hitting  .444 on the season. Hannah Lathrop has been the best-run producer for the Panthers, as she leads the team in hits and RBIs.

The Panthers' opponents, the Hilbert Hawks, are still getting their season started, as they have only played 2 games this season. They opened their season with two losses to former AMCC member D'Youvillle, and have had all of their game since March 20th postponed. They lost the first game 10-0 in 5 innings, and the second 11-4.

Freshman pitchers Bailey Budziszewski and Mattison Arnett pitched the games for the Panthers, allowing 21 runs, 14 earned, between the two contests. Emma McNamara picked up 2 hits in the games and scored 1 run. Makenna Smith Drove in one run for Hilbert, while Budziszewski brought in another.

First pitch for game 1 is scheduled for 3:00 p.m at Kessel Softball Field. The second game is scheduled to start shortly after the completion of the first. Rules and regulations for spectators attending the games are below.
