Louisville, Ky. -- A program record number of Softball players from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford earned recognition for their hard work in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year.

On Wednesday, Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released their annual list of All-America Scholar Athletes, which included 11 members of the 2019 Pitt-Bradford Softball team. The team not only increased their number of players recognized, but were also able to improve their team GPA to 3.38. This improvement moved the Panthers up 20 spots among Division III teams from 77 to 57.

Kendra Colegrove, Grace Dadzaa, Liz Dzurisin, Madison East, Betty Fratercangelo, Sophia Fratercangelo, Maddy Hillery, Kerrigan Hoffman, Jessica Milliron, Melissa Nye and Jordan Uhing were all named to the team for earning a GPA greater than 3.5 for the academic year. 

Betty Fratercangelo, Sophia Fratercangelo and 2019 graduate Maddy Hillery all made the list for the third time in their careers. Sophia and Maddy also had great success on the diamond, as they were named to the AMCC 2nd All Conference Team at the designated player and 2nd base positions respectively. 

Nye, Colegrove, Hoffman, Milliron, Uhing and East were all named Scholar Athletes for the second time while 2019 graduates Dzurisin and Dadzaa recieved the honor for the first time in their senior campaigns. Dadzaa made 3rd Team All-AMCC as an outfielder. 

Head Coach Tina Phillips said, " What a great accomplishment for the program and our student-athletes. I am so proud of them, especially these 11. It's nice to see so many continue to show academic excellence and two who received it for the first time. I have players who have continued to be great examples on and off the field for our young players. Academics is stressed in our program and great to see them get recognized." Phillips has had 69 scholar athletes recognized since the 2003-04 academic year.
