Pitt-Bradford drops both games to Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. - -The Pitt-Bradford softball team traveled to Pitt-Greensburg for a doubleheader and fell to the Bobcats in both games Saturday.


The Panthers started off the first game playing from behind after Pitt-Greensburg got on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning.


Pitt-Bradford answered in its next at bats with two runs after RBIs from junior Meagan Hillard (Bradford/Bradford) and senior Bri Stenta (Ridgway/Ridgway) to take the lead at 2-1.


The Bobcats exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third coming off of eight hits in the inning and took control of the game from that point on leading 9-2.


The Panthers tacked on one more in the fourth after freshman Natalie Harding (Garfield Heights, OH/Garfield Heights) lined a single up the middle to bring home senior Heidi Lucke (Canton, MI/Canton) to cut the lead to 9-3.


Pitt-Greensburg went on to score two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as they defeated the Panthers 11-3 in five innings.


The Bobcats had their bats working early in the second game of the doubleheader as they put up eight runs in the first two innings against the Panthers.


The Panthers began to chip away at the lead as they came back with three runs in the top of the third with an RBI single from senior Ang Comilla (Bradford/Bradford) and Lucke drove in two Panthers with a double to make the score 8-3.


The Bobcats scored in every inning in the second game as they went on to score one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth in defeating the Panthers 14-6.


During the third inning, Comilla collected the 100th hit of her Pitt-Bradford career.


The Panthers will take the field next when they travel to St. John Fisher on April 6 at 3 p.m.
