Panthers Swept by Penn State-Altoona

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's tennis team returned to action for the Spring on Sunday, dropping three matches against Penn State Altoona.

The Panthers dropped the first two conference matches and then played a third non-conference tilt, which they also lost. They fell 9-0 in the first, 5-0 in the second, and closed with a 6-0 loss in the third.

Game one saw the Panthers win three points in singles play as Jason Gao took one game while falling 6-0, 6-1 in the top pairing. Newcomers Nathan Nootbaar and Owen Fitzsimmons were also able to pick up a point each, playing in pairings 3 and 6 respectively.

The Second match saw the Panthers improve in doubles play, as they were able to take a point in both the 1st and 2nd matches. The match ended early as the Lions quickly reached the requisite number of victories to secure the win. At the time of completion, Gao was the only Panther to win a game in singles, as he trailed 6-0, 1-1 as the match came to a close.

The final match of the day once again saw the Panthers earn a point in the top doubles pairings, but Pitt-Bradford was unable to win any games in singles play before the match came to an end.

The Panthers are now 0-10. They are not currently scheduled to play any further matches.
