Franciscan Tops Pitt-Bradford In AMCC Road Match Friday

Franciscan Tops Pitt-Bradford In AMCC Road Match Friday
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- Franciscan defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's tennis team, 9-0, Friday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match.

"We played well against the top team in the conference," Head Coach Susan Schenfield said. "At No. 1 doubles, we won some games with our strong serves and forehands. That, at times, gave the Barons fits. Tomorrow, we need to return to our complete all-court game."

Pitt-Bradford is now 1-3 in AMCC matches while Franciscan improves to 2-0.

In doubles competition, the No. 1 duo of Tyler Dugan and Jacob Volz gave their opponents a tough match but narrowly fell, 8-4.

The No. 2 doubles team for the Panthers was Drew Patla and David Ta, while Matt Dennis and Jeffrey Kocjancic competed in No. 3 doubles.

Volz also worked a competitive No. 2 singles match but ultimately lost, 6-1, 6-3.

Dugan, Patla, Dennis, Ta and Kocjancic also competed in singles action for the Panthers.

Up next, the Panthers will look for their second conference victory as they wrap up the regular season at Pitt-Greensburg.
