Panthers fall to Bobcats, 8-1

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's tennis team took the court today against Pitt-Greensburg and fell to the Bobcats, 8-1.

The Panthers started the doubles matches out slow as they fell behind early in the first two matches. The team of sophomore Kosta Teverovskiy (Plains, N.Y./Harrion) and freshman Jordan Dugan (Galeton/Galeton) found themselves down early in the first match 6-1. The Panthers battled back to get themselves back into it but their comeback effort fell short as the Bobcats took the first match 9-7.

The slow start became a trend for the Panthers as the second doubles team of senior Dylan Nuzzo (Bradford/Bradford) and senior Ian Vaughan (New Kensington/Valley) dug a hole early falling behind the Bobcats 6-1 and had their comeback rally stall as they fell 8-5.

After failing to claim a victory in the doubles matches, the Panthers sole win of the day came in the No. 1 singles slot. Teverovskiy looked sharp in his singles match as his serve and forehand worked for him early and often as he took home the only win of the day for Pitt-Bradford by the score of 6-3, 6-2.

The Panthers would go on to lose the next five matches to the Bobcats as Pitt-Greensburg came out on fire after the loss to Teverovskiy.

Pitt-Bradford head coach Susan Schenfield said, "On important points, 1st doubles, would put pressure on their opponents by coming up with great shots which were difficult. In the end we had chances to win and didn't quite convert them.  In first singles Kosta serve was blazing, volleys were crisp and he controlled the forecourt with his smooth and natural style. As a team, we will continue to tighten the screws in our mental toughness."

The Panthers will take the court again on April 1 at 4 p.m. as they travel to Houghton College
