ALTOONA, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's tennis team visited Penn State Altoona and fell to the Lions, 9-0.

Pitt-Bradford (2-3) had a hard time against a very good Penn State Altoona team as they failed to come away with a match victory.

The Panthers started off the day dropping all three doubles matches to the Lions.

Sophomore Kosta Teverovskiy (Plains, N.Y./Harrion) and sophomore Jordan Dugan (Galeton/Galeton) fell to the Lions 8-1 and the team of senior Ian Vaughan (New Kensington/Valley) and senior Dylan Nuzzo (Bradford/Bradford) fell by the score of 8-2.

Freshman Tyler Updyke (Kersey/St. Marys) and senior Mark Torrey (Bradford/Bradford) fell in the final doubles match of the day, 8-0.

The Panthers struggled in the singles competitions as well against Penn State Altoona as they dropped all six matches.

Teverovskiy started out the singles matches for the Panthers and fell by the scores of 6-2, 6-0.

Vaughan and Dugan were able to steal a few games from the Lions but lost their matches with Vaughan losing 6-1, 5-6 and Dugan falling 6-2, 6-3.

Torrey and Updyke shared similar results as they stole a few games but ended up falling to the Lions, 6-4 and 6-2.

Pitt-Bradford head coach Susan Schenfield said, "Half way through the match our confidence had drained out. Our serve was less reliable than usual and our volleys were a class below its former excellence. At times like these we need to remember our skills are still there coupled with our experience and our unflinching competitive will."

The Panthers will resume play in Cresson as they take on Mount Aloysius March 22 at 11 a.m.
