Panthers sweep Keuka for first wins of season

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's tennis team came away with their first victories of the season as they sweep Keuka in a doubleheader, 6-3, 5-0. 

Pitt-Bradford started off the match taking home the first two matches of the doubles competition with the first two teams of Panthers coming away with a win. The team of sophomore Kosta Teverovskiy (White Plains, N.Y./Harrion) and sophomore Jordan Dugan (Galeton/Galeton) winning 8-0 and senior Dylan Nuzzo (Bradford/Bradford) and senior Ian Vaughan (New Kensington/Valley) winning 8-2.

Senior Mark Torrey (Bradford/Bradford) and freshman Tyler Updyke (Kersey/St.Marys) fell in the final doubles match, 4-8.

The Panthers kept the momentum rolling into the singles competitions as they won the first match 6-3 and the second match 5-0.

Teverovskiy took the first match of singles by the score of 6-0, 6-0 and Dugan followed with another victory of 6-0 and 6-3.

Nuzzo and freshman Tyler Updyke (Kersey/St. Marys) followed with two more wins for the Panthers with Nuzzo winning by the scores of 6-2, 6-0 and Updyke winning 6-3, 7-5.

Pitt-Bradford took home the second match of the doubleheader in straight sets as the Panthers won 5-0.

Teverovskiy and Dugan started off the second match winning the first doubles game 8-0 followed by Nuzzo and Vaughan winning their match, 8-2.

The Panthers would sweep the doubles matches after the team off Updyke and Torrey capped off the doubles competitions with a 8-6 win.

Teverovskiy, Dugan and Nuzzo all came away with victories against Keuka in the second game.

Teverovskiy beat his opponent 6-0, 6-0, Dugan came away with 6-0, 6-3 victories and Nuzzo winning with a 6-0 game.

Pitt-Bradford head coach Susan Schenfield said, "We kept the pieces together long enough to establish ourselves. We suddenly popped to life and brought our game."

The Panthers will next travel to Altoona to take on Penn State Altoona on March 21 at 3 p.m.
