Panthers in 7th After Day 1 at Allegheny Empire Swimming Championships

Webster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team began their trip to the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday night. They picked up 80 points and is in 7th place through the first day of competition.

The Panthers' day started with the 200-yard medley relay. The Panthers had two teams complete the relay. The first team of Sam Wright, Eric Reynolds, Conan Young, and Duncan Young finished 7th in the first heat, finishing in 1:45.24. The second team of Owen Fitzsimmons, Logan Giles, Nathan Ryan, and Giulio Minerbi finished 17th in 1:49.13.

The second and final relay of the day was the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the Panthers once again took 7th and 17th. The top relay of Wright, Minerbi Young, and Young finished the race in 7:26.77. The Panthers' 2nd relay which included Brody Barto, Reynolds, Ryan, and Fitzsimmons finished in 7:53.97.

The Panthers will be back in action for day 2 at the joint championship event tomorrow. Four events will be contested on the day. The 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard Individual MDeley, 50-yard freestyle, and 200-yard freestyle relay.  Preliminary races will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the finals beginning at 5:00 p.m.
