Panthers Come up Short at Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team was back in the pool for their first meet of the new year as they traveled to Rochester for a dual meet with Roberts Wesleyan. The Panthers were able to pull out a few wins in different events but ultimately lost the meet 145-84 to the Redhawks.

Conan Young led the Panthers on the day, picking up two individual event victories and swam in the medley relay team that finished 2nd. His first win came in the 200-yard IM, where he won the race dominantly, finishing 14 seconds ahead of the next competitor with a time of 2:04.74. He followed this up in the 100-yard butterfly. He won the butterfly with a time of 56.20, 3 seconds ahead of the next finisher. 

Two other Panthers were able to pick up individual event wins. Sam Wright was able to win the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 58.32 seconds. Duncan Young was able to win the 500-yard freestyle. He finished 15.08 seconds ahead of 2nd place, posting a winning time of 5:12.30.

The Panthers were also able to finish the event on a high note, as they were able to win the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Brody Barto, Owen Fitzsimmons, Nathan Ryan, and Giulio Minerbi won the relay in 1:30.94, winning by just under 18 seconds. 

The Panthers will return to the Duke Aquatic Center next Saturday, as they will host Penn State-Altoona at 12:00 p.m. The meet is the last scheduled home event of the season, and the Panthers will celebrate Senior day during one of the intermissions.
