Panthers Unable to Keep Pace with Lions

Erie, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team was in Erie, Pa. on Saturday as they competed in a dual meet with AMCC foe Penn State-Behrend. The Panthers struggled to keep up with the large Behrend team and lost the meet 187-82.

Conan Young continued the strong start to his season as he was able to pick up two event victories. He started with a win in the 200-yard butterfly. He finished the race with a time of 2:02.99, which was more than 13 seconds faster than his nearest competitor. He followed that up with an even more dominant win in the 500-yard freestyle. Young swam the race in 4:53.60, winning by 27 seconds. He also swam in both relays.

The Panthers picked up two other individual wins and a relay victory in the meet. Duncan Young won the 200-yard individual medley, finishing with a time of 2:10.09. The Panthers picked up uncontested wins in the 100-yard butterfly and freestyle relay. Nathan Ryan won the butterfly with a time of 1:06.79. The Relay team of Sam Wright, Eric Reynolds, Conan Young, and Duncan Young took the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:36.23.

Giulio Minerbi took 2nd place in the 100-yard freestyle. He just beat the third-place finisher to the wall, finishing in 54.82 seconds. He was 5 seconds off the lead but finished as runner-up by .11 seconds. He also took 4th in the 50-yard freestyle. 

The Panthers are now 1-2 in dual meets this season. They will return to the Duke Aquatic Center for their next meet, as they will host Chatham on Saturday, November 11th.
