Panthers Finish Day 3 of Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships

Webster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams completed their third day of competition at the inaugural Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday. Three members of the men's team and one member of the women's team swam in 3 different events for the Panthers.

  • Tyler Sortore swam in the 100-yard backstroke. He finished in 14th place with a time of 1:01.03.
  • Christopher Troll and Connor Weiss both raced in the men's 100-yard breaststroke. Troll advanced to the finals and finished in 24th place. He swam the finals race in 1:12.51. Weiss was not able to advance past the preliminary round but was able to set a personal best in the event. He finished his race in 1:14.16 seconds, cutting 3 seconds off his best time from earlier in the season. 
  • Adriana Gallas swam in the women's 100-yard breaststroke. She finished in 20th place with a time of 1:31.16. 

After three days of competition, the Panther men's team is in 9th place overall with 138 points and 5th place in AMCC competition with 93 points. The women's team is in 10th place overall with 11 points and 6th place in the AMCC standings with 14.

The Panthers will be back in action for the final day of the championship meet tomorrow. Swimmers will compete in the men's and women's 100-yard freestyle, men's and women's 200-yard backstroke, men's and women's 200-yard breaststroke, the men's and women's 1650 yard freestyle and the women's 3-meter diving events. Preliminary rounds begin at 10:00 a.m. and the finals will begin at 6:00 p.m.
