Five Swimmers Pick Up Points for Panthers at Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships

Five University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Swimmers picked up points for the Panthers on the second day of competition and the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday evening.

  • Tyler Sortore started the evening for the Panthers with a 14th place finish in the 400-yard individual medley. He finished with a time of 4:46.32.
  • Christopher Troll followed up with a 19th place finish in a packed tight 100-yard butterfly. Troll finished the race in 56.92 seconds. this shaved 3 seconds off of his best time of the season.
  • Carey Behm finished 18th in the 200-yard freestyle. He finished his race in 1:50.71. 
  • Adriana Gallas was the lone swimmer to compete for the women's team. She finished 24th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:30.35.
  • The men's 400-yard medley relay team finished the night for the Panthers with an 8th place finish. They completed the relay with a time of 4:04.53. Tyler Sortore swam the backstroke leg in 1:01.21, Connor Weiss took the breaststroke leg in 1:18.30, Christopher Troll swam the butterfly in 52.90 seconds and Carey Behm closed in the freestyle in 52.12 seconds. 

After the second day of swimming, the Panthers men's team is in 9th place overall with 124 points and in 4th place in the AMCC standings with 81 points. The women are in 10th overall with 6 points, and 6th in the AMCC with 9 points.

The action will resume tomorrow with preliminary swimming trials at 10:00 a.m., diving trials at 1:00 p.m. and the finals at 6:00 p.m. On the schedule for Day 3 are the 200-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke, men's one-meter diving, and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
