Pitt-Bradford Swimming Returns to Action with 3rd Place Finish at Wells Trimatch

Aurora, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swim teams began their spring semester schedule with a third-place finish at a tri-match at Wells University. The Panthers swam against competitors from the hosts and from Buffalo State.

The Panthers were unable to win any events but had some strong finishes in their return to action.

  • Connor Weiss sprinted his way to a 2nd place finish in the 50 yd breaststroke with a time of 35.27 seconds.
  • Christopher Troll picked up two second place finishes at the 100-yard distance. He finished as the runner up in the 100-yard butterfly (59.06) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.79).
  • Tyler Sortore took second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.65).
  • On the women's side, the Panthers' strongest event was the 50-yard freestyle. Lauren Kahle finished in 3rd with a time of 30.24 seconds, while Adrianna Gallas finished just behind her in 32.40 seconds.

When asked about her team's performance, head coach Chelsea Schwab said, "Our swimmers had great performances in the water today. We had some season and personal best times from several swimmers which is very exciting and promising at this point in the season. Our young team continues to gain skills and confidence in their races that will set us up for a good team performance at Championships. I couldn't be happier with the outcomes of our races today."

Both teams will have 5 days off before competing on back to back days. On Friday, they will travel to swim at Alfred State at 6:00 p.m. They will follow this up with a home meet on Saturday. They will host Penn State Behrend on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
