Olorunyomi Named AMCC Defensive Player of the Week

Bradford, Pa. -- The AMCC recognized the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team's Morounfoluwa Olorunyomi as its Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The Sophomore center back was a key cog in a 2-0 week for the Panthers. Olorunyomi played all 180 minutes for the Panthers, aiding in their comeback efforts against Elmira and Alfred State.

Down 2-0 against Elmira, Olorunyomi scored on a long free-kick goal from the halfway line. The goal triggered a comeback as it came with the Panthers trailing 2-0. The goal was the first of his career.

He also had a huge part in the Panthers' AMCC opening win over Alfred State. Down 2-3 with just over ten minutes to go, Olorunyomi took a long free-kick that headed into the box. After a scramble around the six-yard box, Brent Kennedy was able to head the game-tying goal home. Just four minutes later, Olorunyomi was credited with a secondary assist on the winner. He hit another free-kick from the Panther half, which again found the head of Kennedy. Kennedy's header was straight to Scott Compson who used a one-time finish to win the game.

Olorunyomi and the rest of the Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday, as they hit the road for their next game. They will play at Houghton College, with the game beginning at 5:00 p.m.
